Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP
Licensed Psychologist | Board-Certified School Neuropsychologist | Child, Adolescent, and Family Specialist
Dr. Korrie Allen works with children, adolescents, and their families across a range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns, including ADHD, autism, anxiety, behavioral challenges, and social-emotional difficulties. Her clinical work is shaped by experience in both psychological assessment and ongoing treatment, and that combination shows up directly in how she practices: therapy is informed by an understanding of cognitive and developmental functioning, and evaluation is always interpreted with attention to how a child is actually functioning in daily life. The focus is never on separating testing from treatment, but on understanding how the two continually inform one another.
Initial sessions, whether for evaluation or therapy, tend to begin with careful listening. Families are asked what has already been tried, what has helped even partially, and what a typical good day looks like compared to a difficult one. This attention to detail helps ensure that treatment planning is grounded in a family’s lived experience rather than a generalized approach, and that evaluation questions are shaped by the concerns that actually brought a family in, rather than a standardized checklist. Many parents notice that this process feels different from a more rushed intake experience; the emphasis throughout is on understanding patterns over time and across settings, including how behaviors shift between home, school, and social environments.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Allen has specialized training in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a parent-based treatment for childhood anxiety developed at Yale University that is not widely offered by other clinicians in the region. She holds board certification through the American Board of School Neuropsychology (ABSNP), reflecting advanced training in neuropsychological assessment within educational settings, earned through peer review well beyond standard licensure requirements. With younger children, therapy is often built around play, drawing, and structured activities rather than traditional talk-based sessions; with adolescents, the work centers on building trust over time and being direct about confidentiality and its limits from the very first conversation.
