Korrie Allen, PsyD, ABSNP
Every family who reaches out is looking for the same thing: a clearer understanding of what is happening, and a sense of what to do next.
Welcome To my practice
A child who seems bright and capable may still struggle to finish homework, follow multi-step directions, or keep up with classmates. A teenager may seem to be managing well on the outside while quietly overwhelmed by anxiety, attention difficulties, or the growing demands of school and friendships. Parents often arrive after trying several strategies, hearing different explanations from different people, or being told that a phase will simply pass. Some families are responding to a brand-new concern; others have been searching for answers for years and are simply tired of starting over with each new provider.
Allen Psychology, LLC provides neuropsychological evaluation and therapy for children, adolescents, and their families, with particular expertise in ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, learning and developmental differences, school readiness, and behavioral and social-emotional concerns. Evaluation helps clarify why a challenge is occurring: what is contributing to it, what strengths are also present, and how the pattern actually shows up in daily life. Therapy builds the skills, coping strategies, and family support that help a child move forward once that understanding is in place. Because Dr. Allen provides both evaluation and treatment, findings from one can directly inform the other, so recommendations stay grounded in an understanding of both cognitive functioning and everyday life instead of treating testing and treatment as two separate tracks.
No two families arrive with the same story. Some are looking for answers after years of unanswered questions. Others are responding to a new concern: a school flagging attention or behavior problems, rising anxiety, a difficult diagnosis, or a teenager who no longer seems like themselves. Whatever brings someone through the door, the goal stays the same: understanding what is happening beneath the surface, identifying strengths alongside areas of difficulty, and providing recommendations that are practical enough to actually use at home, at school, and in daily life.
Referrals are welcomed from pediatricians, psychiatrists, schools, therapists, and attorneys, as well as from families reaching out on their own behalf. If you are unsure whether an evaluation, therapy, or a combination of both is the right place to begin, a brief initial conversation can help determine the next step, without any obligation to move forward.
From Research Into Practice
What Makes This Practice Different
Evaluation and therapy from the same clinician, so care stays connected rather than fragmented
Reports written in language families and schools can actually use, not only clinical shorthand
A collaborative relationship with Coherence Neuropsychology and Supports for second opinions and broader evaluation needs
A consistent, evidence-based approach across both testing and treatment
a collaborative practice in Rockville, Maryland
Allen Psychology is part of Coherence Neuropsychology and Supports, a collaborative practice in Rockville, Maryland, where Dr. Allen works alongside Jennifer Linton Reesman, PhD, ABPP. Allen Psychology, LLC and Reesman Neuropsychology, LLC are independent practices, each responsible for its own clinical care, scheduling, billing, and records. The two clinicians consult regularly and coordinate recommendations when doing so benefits a family. That collaboration means additional expertise is close at hand whenever a family needs something beyond what a single practice typically offers, including second opinion evaluations, adult neuropsychological assessment, and evaluation conducted directly in American Sign Language.
